I was born and bred in Middlesbrough, and although I took my skills to London for 10 years, the pull of the North East was strong, so I returned in 1989.
Over the last 30 years I have enjoyed a varied and interesting career which has given me vast experience in many different sectors including private, public and education. Along with this I am a self-starter and have worked hard to continuously educate myself to degree level, being open to new opportunities and have up-skilled to meet these new prospects.
I have yearned to work for myself for some time so I decided this was an opportune time to make this happen. I was already doing some delivery of PTTLS (Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector) and was able to develop this.
I am a committed and enthusiastic user of Linkedin since its inception, where I have built up a strong and effective network and I must say I am a dedicated and focused member of Linkedin. So my business idea of a Freelance Trainer was ‘born’. This was a natural progression route for me having been a trainer for more than 10 years.
A strong multitasker and an experienced business adviser working with with SMEs and larger organisations, across both the public and private sector, including Further and Higher Education. I am also Governor at Stockton Riverside College, a role that I have held for three years. I also became a Chair on the 2020 (technology) sub-committee more than a year ago.
In addition to running my own business, I also help to support other business owners through my work with Colleagues On Tap, where I am the monthly Middlesbrough host at Teesside University. You can find more details at www.colleaguesontap.com.
